Prenatal Care

A Need for Preventive Care

The changes that pregnancy brings can also bring health risks. To ensure your and your baby’s health throughout your pregnancy journey, prenatal care is essential. Prenatal care is a form of preventive treatment in which your health care provider checks on you and your baby and can include everything from appointments to vaccines .

Throughout your pregnancy, you will attend several milestone prenatal visits to monitor both your health and the development of your baby. It is important to schedule your first visit as soon as you think you might be expecting. If you are uncertain if you are pregnant and in need of pregnancy confirmation services, our team can help.

Women’s Health Exams

Every pregnancy journey is different, and what is considered healthy for one woman may not be considered healthy for another. Women’s health exams are an important part of prenatal care, as your provider works with you to determine individualized health outcomes.

Another crucial element of quality prenatal care is safeguarding against viruses such as influenza and bacteria such as Bordetella pertussis. The Center for Disease Control recommends that women who are expecting obtain two vaccines during their pregnancy: the inactivated flu vaccine injection and the Tdap vaccine to protect yourself and your baby from pertussis, or whooping cough.

Take Control of Your Baby’s Health

Our goal is to make maternal health care more accessible and available to mothers in the DFW area, and part of achieving that goal is providing quality prenatal care. Without proper prenatal care, babies are three times more likely to have a low birth weight and five times more likely to die during the pregnancy and/or delivery process.
